4 ways to improve your poker game

If you have been suffering from a string of flops at the poker table and are trying to assess where you are going wrong, we can help you by providing useful tips to improve your game. First and foremost, resist the temptation to play every hand. Not folding more is perhaps one of the biggest mistakes committed by beginners who try to test their luck at every hand.

Often this is a result of their need to be a part of the action and wrongly equating playing more to winning more. However, according to some estimates, if a player is playing more the 50 percent of the hands dealt to him, he or she is certainly missing the trick when it comes to folding.

Secondly, bluffing is an integral part of poker. However, doing so blindly will take you nowhere and may even result in losing a lot of money at the table due to opponent calling your bluff. It is very important to develop an understanding of the situations where bluffing can work effectively. Also, it is safe to say that bluffing only works with certain people who hesitate in calling the same.

Thirdly, pay attention to the game and more importantly to the cards on the table. Thus, apart from concentrating on you hand, you need to keep a track of cards that are going on the table so that you can figure out the hand strength of your opponent, flush and straight hand possibilities and even ascertain what hand will fit the flop. You should also take time to determine your opponent's playing and betting styles and discover his tell.

Fourthly, keep a track of your betting limit and choose a table accordingly. It would be foolish to play at such high stakes that can affect your day to day living.
