Texas Hold'em Poker Hand Rankings

The worst possible hand in Texas Hold'em is an off suit 2, 3 in the hole with no pairs or matching suits on the table. This would mean that your highest card would be in the community cards, and everyone would have a chance to play off it. This means that you're not likely going to win with hands like this.

Because Texas Hold'em is played as a straight form of poker, there is no need to remember what cards are wild or whether or not you'll be beat out by someone just because they have a Joker. However, below is a list of winning poker hands that are used in Texas Hold'em, as well as a list of Low to High cards.

The lowest card is also the highest, as the Ace can be used as something higher than the King, as well as before the 2 card as a one. Following this, you can make a straight or a Flush that is either Ace High or Ace Low in order to create a winning hand. This also means that if there are no other options, you can win a poker game with just an Ace high, which is known as a high card hand.

After the High Card hands, you have single pairs, which are when you have two of the same number or face cards. This beats the high card hand even if it's just a Pair of 2's to an Ace. Then comes two pair hands, which are where you have two different number or face cards that are aligned with a match somewhere on the table. This gives you more of a chance to win than with just a pair, but it still isn't as good as a three of a kind. Three of a Kind is where you have three cards that are alike.

To beat a Three of a Kind, you have to have a straight or better. Straights are where you have five cards in a row (i.e. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). The best straights are those that include high cards and end with an Ace, while the worst are the Ace through 5 varieties and will lose to a higher Straight hand. Next, you have a Flush, which is where you have five cards of the same suit. These cards could be a 2, 4, 8, 9 and a King.

An Ace high Flush can only be beaten by four different hands. The first and lowest hand above a Flush is a Full House. This is when a player has a pair and a Three of a Kind, with Aces full of Kings being the best possible Full House. After that, there is a Four of a Kind, which is four like cards (2, 2, 2, 2). Then you have the two rarest card hands; the Straight Flush and Royal Flush. A Straight Flush is where you have a straight that are all one suit. Royal Flushes are the same as a Straight Flush, but encompass the 10 through Ace.
